Gloves

Description: Pair of gloves. Ivory kid leather gloves with brown and gray embroidery. Hands have inside seaming; 3 darts on top; darts highlighted by rows of gray chain-stitching with ivory dots woven in; wrists have sewn on cuffs; cuffs feature strip of pale off white leather; embellished with geometric and circle embroidery in brown thread; snap under wrist creates keyhole underneath as well. Stamped inside in purple ink: "Made in Belgium / Real Kid".

Purse

Description: Evening purse of iridescent blue beads. Metallic blue cut beads in a pattern of concentric ovals creating a "raindrops in water" ripple effect. Short, 12" strap at top, one end connected to each side of frame. Metal mount is covered with the beading except for the brass ball-snap closure at center top. Description: Etching and engraving of "David Tenier's House" published on August 15, 1757. The design was attribute to Dutch miniaturist David Eniers the Younger (1610-1690) and was printed by English printmaker Thomas Major (1720-1799). The image shows a large manor house on the right edge of a river bank with a bridge arching over the river. A group of three fisherman are gathered on the shore in the foreground communicating the scale of the rest of the scene to the viewer.

Description: Letter from Victor Lauderdale to his father on American YMCA Stationary, dated May 11, 1919. The letter is brief and informs his father of a letter he enclosed for his mother in celebration of mothers day despite her death with the sentiment "We were with her in life; even so in death we shall be with her." He goes on to mention a trip to Belgium that he is contemplating taking before he comes back to the states.
